Birthday bonanza

I love a great stamp that looks like you've worked really hard but is super simple. Last week I showed you birthday cards using a background paper and how simple it is to make a birthday card which looks great.  This week it's all about the background stamp.

Background stamps are fantastic because they can be customized to any colour for any occasion. They are super simple to use and really create something eye catching. For this card I used the Marbled clear mount background stamp. It has kind of a dreamy tie dye wash kind of effect.  Technically you could actually make your own marbled paper using water and inks and soap but who has the time to do that and dry the paper. And why would you when you can do something so easy. I think this would look dreamy if you inked it up using a few different shades of ink.

To finish it off I added a few layers of card on my Whisper White base. A gold button and some ribbon. A heat embossed sentiment added a little more dimension. You co…

Happy Birthday to you

I don't know about you but around this time of the year it seems like everyone is having a birthday. Makes me wonder sometimes what happened 9 months ago but I can't find a correlation as it's spring down under and autumn in the northern hemisphere. Is there something in the water at the changing of the seasons?

Anyway back to crafting... I find I need to have a stockpile of birthday cards at this time of year. For those I know are coming, and the new friends I've made who seemingly all have birthdays in June & July. (What were all your parents up to - seriously?!)

Here's a simple one I made that only involved a little layering with a designer series paper and the come bigshot die cuts using the Stitched Shapes framelits and Happy Birthday thinlits.

Here's another one using different colours.

Seriously this is the simplest card to make, and so quick. By changing up colours and patters you can make this suit any birthday occasion.  Got to love that. It'…

Good friends

Good friends can be hard to come by. The best friends are those that are fast friends, and life long friends, and friends who stick with you through thick and thin. You know the kind. You click instantly on meeting and you find yourself sharing deeply. You live on other sides of the world, and can't meet face to face often, but when you do it's like no time has passed at all. The ones who drop off care packages when you are sick, or random flowers for no reason. They are the ones to cherish. The best kind of all.

I made this simple card to celebrate friends. A stamped a flower from the Oh So Eclectic Stamp set across the page in black ink and used blender pens to colour in the flowers. You could also use ink and a aqua painter.

I love a repeated image. It a really effective way to create a card that is both striking and simple at the same time.  Here's a close up of my colouring. I'm not the best at this, but there is something therapeutic about staying in between the…
