#techniquethursday - more layered ink

A month or so ago I demonstrated a layered ink card for you.  In that card only used 3 colours but I created a full background stamped image.  This time I'm layering ink in different colours for a more subtle effect on my card.

I used several soft summery shades of coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe and pistachio pudding to give a delicate effect of lace doilies being layered on top of each other.  A few simple pearl embellishments to give some height.  And a stand alone sentiment in early espresso to stand out.

This is a great technique to make a super simple card very quickly - but the effect it has is much richer.
Happy crafting.

Guess what?  I got a chance to get into my craft room this weekend - woo hoo!  I couldn't wait.  I've been madly pinning ideas and dreaming of crafting for weeks.  I didn't get much time but I did get to create a handful of cards which was a lot of fun.  Inspired by something I pinned this week I created this simple card for #tooeasytuesday with feathers and neutral colours.

I'm loving the fine feathers stamp set right now.  It has just the right amount of whimsy without being too boring.  I added a little bow flourish as I thought it needed a little more texture on the card.
It was so wonderful to get back into my craft room today - can't wait for more time tucked away in there.  What did you get up to this weekend?

Would you believe I still haven't had time to get into my craft room.  The last few weeks all my Saturdays have been taken up with shopping & preparing for bathroom renovations.  While I'm excited about that project I'm very aware that I'm feeling a sense of loss of myself without a creative outlet.  Lucky I have My Digital Studio so could spend 5 mins creating this today.  It's not quite the same - there is no substitute for ink on your fingers and paper in your hands - but I did enjoy doing it.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that I get some time in my craft room this weekend.  I really need it!

#techniquethursday - inspiration

Sometimes I don't have any idea what I want to do when I walk into my craft room.  I take down stamp set after stamp set and look at them but just can't make a decision on what colours I want to use, or what kind of card I want to make.  For those times I have an inspiration board with things I've collected (or a pinterest board) of ideas - colours, shapes, materials, design - things that make me feel good and inspire me to make a card.  Last year when I was in Tokyo I picked up several postcards that I loved and today I'm showing you how I used one for inspiration on a card.

The postcard was very simple.  5 leaf shapes of very soft neutral colours.  All a little different.  Very very subtle.  When I saw the Fine Feathers stamp set in the catalogue I was immediately reminded of this card and had to buy it.  I loved the simplicity of the design and the soft colour palate.  Originally I was planning on doing all 5 leaves the same stamp, however I just loved each one so …

Short and sweet tonight.  Just a picture of the card I made last night.  I've been traveling for work today and speaking in Melbourne so I've had no time to blog until now... just before bed.  Forgive me for not including the ingredients list.  If you want to know what stamps I used and colours leave a message and I'll come back and add them.

Happy crafting.
