My wish for you

I finally got a chance to play with some items from the new catalogue on the weekend - and it was awesome.  I am completely in love with the new in colours - especially Tip Top Taupe and Delightful Dijon.  There's just something about them that I think I'll be using a lot - both for versatility with other colours, and as stand alone stand outs.

Here's a quick little card I made using 3 of the new colours - Watermelon Wonder, Delightful Dijon, and Tip Top Taupe.  I also used the fringe scissors which I've had for a really long time but haven't really been that inspired to use.  I absolutely love the fringing on this card though - so expect to see me using them a lot more.

The cake was stamped in Stazon black ink so that I could water colour it.  I don't water colour very often.  I think I've always had a mindset that you could only make old fashioned, vintage style cards, but I've started to see a few card popping up that have a much more modern take…

Don't worry be Happy

I always struggle to throw scraps of craft materials away.  I think there's something in me that says - if I just hang on to this... I'll find a use for it.  It makes retirement lists a bit of a challenge for me as I often have to let go of things I love, or make the hard call to keep them. The thing about retirement sales & letting things go, is that it creates more ro…

Cause we're happy

Did the title of my blog post make you start singing Pharrell Williams - Happy - song?  It's a cold wet day here in Sydney so I'm definitely trying to get into my happy place and that song is always a great place to start.  What does that have to do with my blog post today?  Nothing really except I've used the word happy and this card makes me happy.

Super simple to make but so striking.  It almost looks like the background paper is a designer series paper - but it's not.  It's stamped using the Dots and Stripes mask and a sponge dauber.  Which means you could do it in any colour ink you like.  Win!!!

As I've made the background black and white I kept the rest of the colour palate very simple and just allowed the balloon and it's simple message to speak for itself.  I did raise it up with some dimensionals to give it a little height.  I love this card because you could give it to a man or a woman.  I really struggle to make cards that are suitable for an…
