Cards for joy

The season of quarantine and COVID-19 is a global challenge - physically, emotionally, financially. I'm privileged to live in a country with great health care and be in a place where I have a home, I have food and I have job security. I know many are not as fortunate and we need to come together an do all we can to support those who don't have that privilege. I'm on the board of World Vision Australia and am supporting their campaign for global support to COVID-19. If you have the means to do so an want to support the work with the worlds most vulnerable children you can do so here.

I think this season also calls us to support one another with more patience, joy and time spent on the things that really matter. I know I'm learning on a daily basis to reprioritise what is truly important - for me, for my family and for my friends. I've chosen to spend more time in creative activities that refresh my soul - my growing indoor gardening addiction, refinishing my dining room table, and making cards. I've also decided to help spread the joy by sending some card packs to friends with envelopes and stamps so they can write to others and spread the joy. There's something truly special about receiving an unexpected note in the mail from a friend "just because". Not because it's your birthday, or Christmas. Just because you were on their mind. So with that in mind there's going to be some blog posts from me sharing some of the cards I've made. There won't be long commentary - just a photo or two and maybe a thought on what I liked about the card. Hopefully this will spark something in you to find a way to spread joy to those in your life today.

For this card I used the Forever Blossoms Bundle from the current Mini Catalogue to stamp and cut the flowers and sentiment out.  I used an Aqua Painter to create the water washed grey lines in the background and some Dimensionals to make the stamped sentiment pop up. To colour the flowers and leaves I used Water Colour Pencils and an Aqua Painter.  Pretty simple and a great way to kick off what was an epic Saturday of card making a week or so ago.

If you want to get on board with a new hobby or join me in this creative adventure you can grab some supplies through my online store.

Happy crafting. And stay safe and well.
